How to play Roulette

The origins of roulette date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. It is believed the earliest form of what we now know as toulette was played in Paris casinos around the end of the 18th century. The game had most of the features of modern day roulette.

Roulette Terms

Even - Odd Bet	A bet on either odd or even numbers. This is an outside bet and pays even money.
High - Low Bet	A bet of 18 numbers at the same time. The high numbers (19 - 36) or the low numbers (1 - 18)
Inside Bet	A bet placed on any individual number on the roulette table. Includes a bet on 0 or 00
Outside Bet	Any bet that is made on the outer part of the table: High, Low, Odd, Even, Black or Red
Red - Black Bet	A bet on either all 18 black numbers, or all 18 red numbers

Roulette Rules

When entering a roulette room at an online casino, a player is presented with a scenario similar to a real - life roulette table. The wheel and the betting mat will be laid out before the player. To begin, it is as simple as placing a bet on a table.

The Basics....

The roulette mat is marked with the numbers 1 to 36, 0 and 00. one the outside of the mar are places for outside bets. Outside bets can be placed on a group of numbers, or a binding characteristic. it's important to note that all outside bets lose if the ball drops on 0 or 00.

To make things interesting, you can bet on the 12 numbers contained in any one of the three columns on the table. The roulette table has three columns and 12 rows. At the end of these columns there are places(usually labelled 2 to 1) to lay chips. If a number in your column comes up you win. A win on a column pays 2 to 1.

If that's not enough ways to win, you can also bet on the first dozen numbers (1 - 12), the seond dozen (13 - 24), or the third dozen (25 - 36). If the ball lands on any of the numbers in your dozen, you win. A win here pays 2:1

To place a bet, it's as easy as clicking on a chip denomination and then clicking on the roulette table. Each online casino will vary, so check with online help if you are unsure.

Roulette Strategy

Simple reason being that North American Roulette has an extra green 00 - meaning that the odds are doubled in the house's favour. Pre- decide on a win - say 7 units. Bet on red, If winnings, leave the two on red (or switch to black) If you win again, leave the four on antoher even chance number. If you win the third time in a row skim the seven and restart with one. Every time you lose restart with one.

Winning bet on red, black, low 1 to 18, high 19 - 36, even, or odd pays even money.
Winning bet on the down (1 to 12, 13 to 24, or 25 to 36), or on the column in which the winning number falls pays 2 to 1.
Winning bet on the number itself pays 35 to 1.
Bet on either of two numbers the bank pays 17 to 1. This is where you put the chip between two numbers.
Bet on three numbers, one of which win pays 11 to 1. This is where you place the chip to teh right of 3 numbers. Also called a street bet.
Bet on four numbers, one of which pays 8 to 1. This is where you place the chip in the centre of 4 numbers, touching all 4 squares.
Bet on five numbers (0, 00, 1, 2, 3) one of which pays 6 to 1. Also called the Quint, this is where you place the chip between the "00" and the "3" on the layout.
Bet on six numbers, one of which wins and the bank pays 5 to 1. Also known as a double street this is where you place a chip to the right between 2 rows of numbers.
When a zero or double zero comes up the house pays bets on the zero (or double zero), or on the zero (or double zero) and any other adjacent numbers in combination with it. But collects on all other bets.
